We are seeking an exceptional, enthusiastic and motivated scientist possessing doctoral, and preferably postdoctoral, experience in biochemistry, molecular biology and/or cell biology and, with the ability to work to a high standard. Previous laboratory experience, attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
You will perform original research for and contribute to the ERC research programme led by Professor Francesca Buffa. The research project will involve a wide range of basic and advanced biochemical, molecular and cell biology techniques, including but not limited to mammalian cell culture, genome editing and genomics profiling.
Ideally you will have (or be working towards) a PhD in a relevant area of biology/biochemistry. Whilst the role is a Grade 7 position, we are willing to consider candidates without a PhD who have potential but less experience seeking a development opportunity, for which an appointment would be at Grade 6 (£28,660 - £34,189 p.a.) with responsibilities adjusted accordingly. Proficiency in standard biochemical/molecular/cell biology techniques is an essential requirement of the role, together with experience with siRNA, shRNA or CRISPR screening technologies.
The position is maternity-cover and is fixed-term for 6 months.
Applicants should read the job description before writing their application. You will be required to upload a letter setting out how you meet the selection criteria and a CV including a statement of career interests and the contact details of two referees as part of your online application.
Informal enquiries can be directed to Prof Francesca Buffa (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 19 August 2019 and interviews are scheduled for 9 September 2019.
