Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science, to start by 1 September 2023. The successful candidate will also be appointed as a Fellow and Tutor in Computer Science at Hertford College. Tutors are responsible for the organisation and teaching of their subject within the College.
The successful candidate will join the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning theme within the vibrant and rapidly growing Department of Computer Science, which has a research profile across the entire spectrum of contemporary computer science. You will be expected to engage in independent and original research in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning. You will be expected to secure funding, to engage in the management of research projects, and to disseminate your research through publications in high-quality scholarly journals and conferences. You will also contribute to teaching on the Department’s highly successful undergraduate and graduate programmes.
In the College you will undertake the work of a Tutorial Fellow: you will teach and take responsibility for the academic progress of undergraduates, act as College Adviser to graduate students, take part in the undergraduate admissions process, contribute to the intellectual life of the College, and serve as a Trustee, sitting on the College’s Governing Body and on other committees and working groups.
You will hold a doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, have the ability to teach across a range of topics in Computer Science, and will also have a proven research track record of internationally high quality in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
