We have an exciting new role for a Senior Trial Manager (Development) to join the Oncology Clinical Trials Office (OCTO).  The Senior Trial Manager will be primarily based in OCTO, working in a team including the Trial Management Director, Chief Investigators, statisticians, trial management teams, collaborators, IT and QA staff. You will also spend one day a week in the Oxford Cancer office, working as part of a team of project managers and administrators working on translational platforms seeking to progress fundamental scientific discovery towards the clinic.

 

You will use your experience and knowledge of clinical trial designs and regulatory requirements to work with investigators, collaborating companies, funders and stakeholders to develop new trial proposals, defining appropriately resourced and compliant operational models for trial delivery, developing or obtaining costs for all elements of delivery. Where required, you will provide training and support to new Chief Investigators.

 

You will work with external groups and local Chief Investigators through the Clinical Positioning Network run from Oxford Cancer, to oversee all pre-award activity associated with the development of new Oxford University sponsored clinical trial projects. This will include protocol development, interfacing with local governance and contract negotiation groups, engagement with local chief investigators and coordination with academic laboratories and research facilities under guidance from the Clinical Director, Trial Management Director and University’s Research Services.

 

The post is offer full time but part-time hours will be considered (a minimum of 0.8 FTE worked over at least 4 days)

 

The post is fixed term for two years in the first instance and will be based in the Oncology Clinical Trials Office, Old Road Campus Research Building, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7DQ. Occasional travel to meet collaborators and attend national meetings will be required (approximately 4-6 times a year).

 

You will have a degree in a relevant biomedical or associated subject, with demonstrable experience of coordinating clinical trials (including CTIMPs) and developing early phase clinical trials and studies in oncology with both commercial and non-commercial funders/collaborators. Experience of developing funding/grant applications, vendor selection and clinical trial contracting is essential, along with an in-depth working knowledge of UK clinical research structures GCP, legislation, regulatory and ethical systems applicable to clinical trials. You will have excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, including written and spoken English. You must be willing to travel within the UK and further afield. Overnight stays may be required on occasions. Experience of medical device trials would be advantageous.
