We are looking for a Researcher Assistant to work on an exciting opportunity as part of the Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Group (OANG), within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. The post holder will work in a multi-disciplinary team studying the immunobiology underlying the autoantibody-mediated diseases of the nervous system.
Most work will involve the key skills of research participant recruitment, obtaining and preparing biosamples from these patients. In addition, the post holder will need to detect autoantibodies from these samples and act as a key focal point for ensuring organisation and coordination of laboratory rotas and equipment. The post will incorporate several opportunities to develop laboratory skills to other assays including PCR and cell culture.
Reporting to Professor Sarosh Irani, your duties will include identification and recruitment of participants for studies, determination of autoantibodies from biosamples and database maintenance for the samples, consents and results.
You will also be responsible for day-to-day management of research and related administrative activities.
It is essential that applicants hold a BSc in Biology or closely related field. It is also essential that the applicant has demonstrable experience and success in research participant recruitment, including consent process and liaisons with patients +/- their clinicians. It would be advantageous if the candidate has experience of cloning and sequencing PCRs for the generation of patient derived monoclonal antibodies
The post is full-time for a fixed-term of 3 years in the first instance.
