Applications are invited for the post of Data Acquisition Engineer in the Electronics Group within the Department of Physics, which provides design and project management support for Physics research.
The post is open ended externally funded, subject to the successful completion of the standard probation period of 1 year.
The post will principally support the John Adams Institute of Accelerator Science projects.
The post will contribute to Data Acquisition solutions needed for Particle Physics Research. The Physics Department participates in a number of high profile ‘design and build’ experimental programmes involving other research institutions and laboratories around the United Kingdom and worldwide.
Applicants should possess a degree in electronics engineering or closely related subject. They should have a strong background in Data Acquisition system design with a sound knowledge of large programmable Devices (e.g. FPGA’s) and their programming including usage of IP blocks for fast data transfer.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate that they can lead and manage projects from feasibility and conceptual design through to manufacture, final assembly, testing and commissioning.
Previous experience in a scientific research environment will be an advantage.
