As part of Oxford's Access and Participation Plan, a strategic commitment was made to widen participation by encouraging and supporting applications from students from under-represented groups. One of the major initiatives announced by the University to meet this ambition was the establishment of a foundation year, Foundation Oxford, to provide intensive tuition and support for students with high academic potential from very disadvantaged backgrounds.
Applications are now invited for the post of Foundation Oxford Coordinator. The Foundation Oxford Coordinator will be central to delivering the University's strategic ambition for a new foundation year programme. As such, the role will require an individual with the necessary professional leadership abilities to lead on the design of this new provision, deploying effective skills in consensus building across the complex organisational structure of the University, and having the necessary insight to enable seamless implementation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen understanding of widening access and outreach at a selective university. They should also be able: to contribute at strategic and operational levels to the development of a foundation year, ideally with experience of producing relevant content for such courses within a selective university setting; and to develop and sustain excellent professional working relationships with a wide range stakeholders across a complex and very devolved organisation.
This is a fixed-term contract until 31 July 2022 and is part-time (0.6 FTE/25 hours).
Informal enquiries about the post may be addressed to Dr Saira Shaikh (firstname.lastname@example.org).
All applications must be received by 12.00 noon on Thursday 4 June 2020. Interviews are anticipated to be held week commencing 22 June 2020.
