Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow (Technical AI Safety)

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
 
Essential criteria (Grade 6, Research Associate)
 
1.       PhD in relevant subject area (or near completion of)
2.       Research experience in relevant research techniques and methodologies
3.       Strong publication record commensurate with the applicant’s career stage.
4.       Algorithmic and model development skills, and a familiarity with relevant machine learning libraries.
5.       Ability to work independently and within a team
6.       Effective communication: written and verbal
 
Desirable criteria ( Grade 6, Research Associate)
 
1.       Creativity and originality in research
2.       Willingness to engage in dissemination activities beyond conference presentations (e.g., present in lab meetings or research visits).
 
Essential criteria (Grade 7, Research Fellow)
 
1.       PhD in relevant subject area
2.       Prior post-doc experience
3.       Research experience in relevant research techniques and methodologies
4.       Strong publication record commensurate with the applicant’s career stage.
5.       Algorithmic and model development skills, and a familiarity with relevant machine learning libraries.
6.       Ability to work independently and within a team
7.       Effective communication: written and verbal
 
Desirable criteria (Grade 7, Research Fellow)
 
1.       Experience supporting junior colleagues (e.g., MSc and PhD students)
2.       Creativity and originality in research
3.       Willingness to engage in dissemination activities beyond conference presentations (e.g., present in lab meetings or research visits).

* Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
